Introducing D.P
Ok enough of the sniggering his name’s David Pierce he’s 28, a long term friend of JuggaNote and the bands new guitarist. Introducing David or D.P as he’s known; not only a friend of the band D.P has worked with the individual members of the band on solo/side projects on and off for over a decade and was actually a founding and original member of the band. We had him answer a few questions about himself to help you get to know him.
When and why did you start playing guitar?
I started playing Guitar when I was around the age of 11 but unfortunately It was through having Guitar lessons, which meant that I wasn’t learning what I really wanted to learn. As a result I put the instrument down for a few years. But as I understood more and more about the concept of Bands teaching themselves how to play Music in their own style I found myself drawn towards the Guitar again and I picked it up again on my 14th birthday. I haven’t looked back since.
My main inspiration for picking up the guitar came from being a Queen fan and loving the sounds that Brian May was capable of producing.
What other instruments can you play?
Apart from being a Guitarist, which is my main instrument, i’m also a Piano/Keyboard player, a Bass Player and a Drummer. I can also play the Recorder. Oh, and the Triangle. (can’t forget the Triangle)
What bands have you been in? Any solo projects?
I’ve only ever played casually with other Musicians in a non-professional way really, without ever performing regular gigs as part of a Band. Over the last couple of years though I’ve done a lot of gigging on my own under the name of ‘Psyched by Silence’ where I played along to my own backing tracks. As a casual side-project I’ve also started to write songs for today’s recording artists – no hits to my name yet but i’m working on that.
Who or what are your main musical influences?
As long as it’s a good song, I don’t care what genre it’s from as great music can be found in all forms. But here are my favourite Musical acts that have inspired me over the years and continue to do so: Deftones, Manic Street Preachers, The Prodigy, Queen, Muse, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Rage Against The Machine and The Chemical Brothers.
Any non-musical influences?
Now that’s a question! Hmmm……I think you can tell when the Musicians that perfom a song don’t really believe in what they’re performing. That always comes across in a performance or on a recording so I guess that’s a way of weeding out the rubbish. But in terms of naming some of the weeds…………..The Cheeky Girls, whoever performs that stupid Barbara Streisland song, Fast Food Rockers, Oo ee oo ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang – that kind of shit.
How do you feel about working with JuggaNote?
I can’t wait. I have known Bespoken, Joe and Martin for many years so I feel like the connection is already there. In terms of the Music, I believe the World needs JuggaNote. The band stand up for things that too many people are afraid to say (or are maybe even unaware of) so maybe we can plant a few ideas and do what we can to help make the World a better place. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun and make great Music along the way, which I know we will.
What are your Ideas or plans for the future musically?
New Music, New Releases, Great Live Shows, Fun. It’s going to be a great journey – come with us.
